Forest School

Forest school is an inspirational approach to learning in which children visit natural spaces on a regular basis to learn physical, social and technical skills. It provides opportunities to build self-esteem through hands-on learning in a bush, beach or other natural environment. Child-led learning and play is an integral part of the pedagogy, as is the development of teamwork and sensory awareness or mindfulness. Forest school includes a variety of practical activities, in which students are supported and empowered to manage their own risk and build resilience.

For Schools

As an experienced primary school teacher with a leadership background and hands-on experience in teaching through nature play, I am in a unique position to help your school develop their understanding of how nature play can support your students in their wellbeing and learning. I can support your current programs, provide professional learning for your teachers and provide feedback on your outdoor learning spaces. I love working with schools to get the best outcomes for our students - in nature!

Bush Playgroups

Darebin Creek Bush Playgroup is a playgroup that aims to connect little kids and their parents to nature through activities and unstructured play. We provide opportunities for children to build self-esteem through hands-on learning in a bush environment. Sessions include teamwork, sensory awareness and mindfulness and children are empowered to manage their own risk in physical activities. Through the playgroup, we aim to build a love and awareness for the environment and take care to leave no trace and be sustainable. Come and join our little community!

Bush Kinder Experience

Bush Kinder is a play-based outdoor learning approach for 3-5 year olds in which children interact with nature and one another for good development. They learn simple bush skills and partake in a wide variety of sensory and physical activities. But most of all they play. Long periods of uninterrupted play are critical for a wide range of social, emotional and cognitive skills and help our children to build resilience. Come and play with us!
